Run As Administrator When Using Pro Tools on Windows

Run As Administrator is an optimization that should be enabled for EVERYONE using Pro Tools on a Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 PC.

There are a couple different ways you can run Pro Tools as Administrator, which I will show in the video below, but the best way is to setup Pro Tools to default to Run As Administrator using the following method:

Right Click the Pro Tools shortcut Icon on your desktop.

Choose 'Properties'

Click the 'Compatibility' tab on top

Look towards the bottom of the window for Privilege Level

'Check' the box next to "Run this program as an administrator"

Click 'Apply' then click 'OK'

Now whenever you launch Pro Tools, it will default to Run As Administrator.

This optimization should be done even when running Pro Tools from an Administrators account, because running from an Administrators account/profile is not the same thing as running Pro Tools with Run As Administrator.

Everyone using Windows for Pro Tools should be using Run As Administrator.
