Limit Recording Time Allocation in Pro Tools

"Limit recording to" is a preference setting that all Pro Tools users should know about.

In the following video you will learn why you should limit your recording time, at least in most cases, and you will learn how to do it.

By limiting the recording allocation, you can help keep your files closer together on the hard drive, which should result in better performance in Pro Tools.

By choosing a "Limit To" setting, you are not choosing the total amount of time your session is capable of recording or playing back. You are only limiting each take. If you were to choose a "Limit To" setting of 1 minute, your session/song could still be 4,5,20 minutes. Now, 1 minute is pretty short, and not a setting that is being suggested - its just an example.

Choosing a "Limit To" setting of 10-15 minutes is usually a good choice.

Watch the following video for further explanation.
